Window treatment help. Shades blinds and cutains

I just completed a renovation in Park Slope and never gave any thought to wundiw treatments. Does anyone have the name of someone that can help. There are a lot of windows that need shades blinds and curtains.

Try The Shade Store. Not inexpensive, but they have a good range of options including lots of nice classy plain stuff -- compared to Smith & Noble who can baffle one with too many frou-frou choices. Also, they are based in LIC, Queens so delivery is pretty speedy.

I suggest you look at catalogs and magazines first to get an idea of what you want, so that when you do talk to professionals, you have a starting place. There is a lot to choose from in a huge range of choices and prices, so the more specific you can be, the easier for them and yourself.

Have lots of tear sheets or pictures. Go to high end places like ABC Home, look at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, Macy's, etc to familiarize yourself with what's currently out there, and how much.

And measure twice, order once. Measure inside the frame, outside the frame, length of window to floor, or desired height. Always better to have too much information.

Good luck.

Pintchik (spelling?) is great for all kinds of window shades/blinds -- and they will measure and install. Good prices and service.

There is a place called Laytner's Linens and Home on Broadway in the 8o's where they have velvet curtains with lining, in the long lengths needed for Brownstone windows, for under 15 dollars each. They have other inexpensive curtains as well (silk, I think?) and they all come in about 6-8 colors.

Their velvet curtains were a quick way to start decorating our 3 big new windows after our renovation without having to spend much of what little was left of our money.
