Replace floors

I just got a quote for some work in my apartment. Part of it was to replace the flooring in my living room/kitchen. The contractor said it would be $4000 for laminate floors, plus an additional $800 to replace the baseboards. I am curious, does this sound right/fair? The total square footage is about 400 square feet. Thanks!

Seems too much for plastic. Verrazano did bamboo flooring (much better) for about 8$/sq ft, including underlay. The baseboard quote seems ok for 2 separate rooms.

Oops, checked the invoice from Verrazano; it's more like $12/ft.; $2/ft was for leveling and 1/4" underlay

I think it's reasonable. Are they going to replace the subfloor or just level it? Seems like for laminate or a typical softwood, $10 psf is the going rate. Get another estimate, though.

Try my friends at ACR General Contracting, speak with AL or Junior (917) 573-3304. Did that price include materials or just labor for the install?

$4000.00 does sound high, for 400 sq.ft, though, it does depend on your sub floor and the product you chosen.
