ISABELA CONDOS or CATHEDRAL CONDOS
I'm looking to buy a new Condo. Which is a better buy.
This listing by Corcoran in the Cathedral Condos. Very antique.

Or a brand new and modern Condo right next door.

It really depends what rocks your boat. Modern living is dandy and all, but architecturely you can't compare the buildings or apts. I say Cathedral Condos, they're about the same price per SQF anyway.

I gotta say I think the Isabella would be a way better buy. I have been into the Cathedral condos and think they have really goofy layouts. The Isabella looks nice and spacious and not over done plus a better buy.

I agree with you on the goofy layouts of some of these apts. I went to an open house last year and they had the master bedroom in the basement. But the particular unit of interest doesn't seem to have such a bad layout. I also think that buying in a new construction that hasn't settle down yet may be a problem later on.

My wife loves the new Isabella condos.
They are very Green and Modern and NEW.
I went to both open houses on Sunday.
As far as the Cathedral condos, i just love the Pre-war detail of the building and the wood work of the apartment. We currently rent in a Brownstone in Fort greene and going Modern will throw off the home feeling we have now. I'm just anal like that, as of now its a very tough decision.

Brooklyn---fair point about the actual unit for sale in Cathedral and about the unknowns of new construction. For me I would still choose the isabella. Another compelling reason for me is the location. I don't think I would like to live right on the corner of Atlantic Ave (where the cathedral is). Isabella is tucked in a little down the street and that would be a big factor for me.

Location, they are right next to each other. But I agree with you. I hate Atlantic avenue, it looks like an accidnet waiting to happen. where are the cars racing to anyway.

They are right next to each other but the Cathedral is right on the corner while the Isabella is a hundred yards or so off the intersection which I think makes a big difference. And yes, where are they all racing to? Such a hideous street.
