cost for siding
Can anyone tell me how much I could expect to pay to reside my 3 story frame house with Hardy plank (one side only) 8 new windows, cornice, and brick repair?

I would think that depends on what shape your brick/cornice are in, and what brand/size windows you'd like to install. My contractor gave my neighbor a quote of something in the ballpark of 30K to only do the siding on one side of a 4-story structure. That said, they did not book him for the job. Furthermore, 4 months later they still did not replace the old gross and rotting siding, so I figure they could not find any better quotes.

No, this is my current contractor, Beer from Beer Construction. I've been plugging him all over these threads! :) He's a good guy. I don't know anything about his siding skills, but feel free to give him a call, 646-358-6118.

Look I don't know what it would cost, but my neighbor just had his done and it looks great. He bought the actual siding at a building store and it cost him around 2.20 a sq ft plus tax. Than he had a contractor do the work on his cornice which needed painting, put up the hardi plank and stucco his brick foundation... I think you should try doing this. I don't know what his whole project came out to but that 30000 sounds expensive for just one side. His whole price range on a very small home about 22sq came in around 17 k. Of course this is NJ. But the look of Hardi Plank is beautifuL. If you are looking at the higher quality artisan series you should call building product stores for prices on a Sq ft basis....

Crowlish - I'm looking to do very similar work on my home and have had three quotes that just seemed outrageous. If you find someone you are happy with please post here.

Without divulging the names, could you give me the general estimates you were given? I have one estimate that is up towards 40k which is INSANE and I won't do it.
