Who are we? I am neither an asshat, a hipster or a developer so I guess you and I are on the same team.

"now what, what?"
I will let you know.
"Who are we? I am neither an asshat, a hipster or a developer so I guess you and I are on the same team."
I going to file stalking charges against you Wasder! Go fix your new house and leave me alone. Plus "we" are not on the same team, damn...

I don't know, what. They're reconvening on Thursday. It was real smooth how all channels and websites of the media played bias to the bill's support. Tried to blame the defeat on Pelosi's speech rather than the lack of votes. Interviewing nobody but yay-sayers unlike days ago when they interviewed both sides. Kind of like how brownie shrunk you into the forums when the cat crawled out of the bag on this home-price-pyramid shit.
Then they got all gased up about "the biggest one-day drop on the DOW ever". Yeah, right, absolute numbers only. Just 7% (still a big drop but not the biggest). Nowhere near the twenty odd percent in '87. Like saying a Snickers only cost 5 cents back in the 50's. Scare tactics. Real smooth.
Nice pic.

For anyone who doesn't really understand the bailout, read Larry Summers editorial in yesterday's FT...

He does not however, speak of taking NYC back from Asshats and hipsters and giving it back to "them."
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at September 30, 2008 8:07 AM
I think we are on the same team What. Now that you have identified hipsters, asshats, and developers as the enemy. I assume you aren't one of those categories and neither am I so by deductive reasoning we are on the same team. Isn't it a funny world?
Posted by: wasder at September 30, 2008 9:06 AM
I'm not an asshat, a hipster, or a developer either. Can I be on your team Wasder?
Posted by: I_haz_TWO_toilets at September 30, 2008 11:02 AM
I haz! You are definitely on my team! But so is the What. Can you handle that?
Posted by: wasder at September 30, 2008 11:04 AM
I can TOTALLY handle that!!!!!
How's the house? Are you picking paint colors and window treatments? Are you excited to put pumpkins and pots of flowers on your stoop? :)
Posted by: I_haz_TWO_toilets at September 30, 2008 11:08 AM
That's the spirit I haz TWO toilets! :)
Posted by: bren at September 30, 2008 11:12 AM
Awesome. We are in demolition mode right now. Not that much needs to be taken out, but a few walls torn down and a few walls put up to reconfigure the living space just a little. Then its floors and painting. Will pick some colors for the kids rooms and the rest of the house will be a nice warm white. Also building a deck off the back of what will be my office on the parlor level. Window treatments are a ways off...We will probably be moving in Nov 1. Thanks for asking.
Posted by: wasder at September 30, 2008 11:12 AM
Well, What, looks like you may be right about getting our old NYC back, too!
NY1 was talking about cutting subway cleaning - so that's one step in the 70s direction. Now if anyone remembers any good old tags from the graffiti era - please brush up on your skills! NSA, Zephyr, who can forget 'Dondi'... oh, give me a few moments, more will come back to me. I think the litter on the street is pretty much covered, so no worries there. The city says they aren't cutting the police - yet - may have to wait a little on that one. Job cuts - check! We're almost there!
(Ok, this has been fun, now back to my xanax and job hunting.)

Dow take a look at this..
Libor Rises Most on Record After U.S. Congress Rejects Bailout
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=alszNo3N0CHo
"The London interbank offered rate, or Libor, that banks charge each other for such loans climbed 431 basis points to an all-time high of 6.88 percent today, the British Bankers' Association said. The euro interbank offered rate, or Euribor, for one-month loans jumped to a record 5.05 percent, the European Banking Federation said. The Libor-OIS spread, a gauge of the scarcity of cash, also increased to an all-time high."
This means Banks do not trust each other.
``This is unheard of, the money markets should be the engine driving the financial system but they have broken down,''
There is a vapor look going on and please don't cheer the rally today, it's a technical retrace.
"Yields on overnight U.S. commercial paper jumped 171 basis points today to an eight-month high of 3.95 percent, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Average rates on paper backed by assets such as credit cards and auto loans rose 229 basis points to 6.5 percent, the highest since 2001. Companies sell commercial paper to help pay for day-to-day expenses such as salaries and rent."
This short term paper is very important!!!!!
BTW If they don't pass some form if that bill, you will be in a crash scenario next week.

Team-mate What. Nice analysis. In "crash scenario" what do you see happening? What will be the real life effects on the street? Yours truly, Team-mate Wasder.

They were beautiful. Literally a bright spot in the dank grimness of the subway. Sad to hear, so young, huh.
Posted by: cobblehiller at September 30, 2008 11:24 AM
That's great, Wasder! I love white with a little yellow in it (I tend to decorate in cake batter colors--buttery yellows, chocolate browns). You will be in for Thanksgiving and the holidays! I'm happy for you and wish you & your family many years of happiness there.
Posted by: I_haz_TWO_toilets at September 30, 2008 11:26 AM
Thanks I haz Two. I will now be alone in a big house with all female company (wife, two daughters, female employee). Hope I can handle it!

Teammate Wasder -- Get yourself a nice male dog to pal around with. No landlord to ask permission of, and you can take him to work!

May I be on your team? I am a psycho smartypants not a tangerine hipster. Do I qualify?(Whaaat did she say)?

Are you waterproofing your house, wasder?
Posted by: DOW8000SP800 at September 30, 2008 1:57 PM
That was naughty DOW!

"DOW--do fill me in as to what you mean here."
Are you waterproofing the facade and rear? Like the roof, that's where water can infiltrate. Why is this naughty?
Posted by: DOW8000SP800 at September 30, 2008 2:10 PM
Oops, sorry DOW, I thought you were teasing Wasder a la What with the 'underwasder' thing. Apologies all around.
Posted by: cobblehiller at September 30, 2008 2:13 PM
If, my friend DOW, you are making reference to the likely under water aspect of my home's value, then certainly I am not alone. I was just reading an article that stated that of people who bought in 2006 (I think this is nationwide) more than half are "under water" or have negative equity. So, if this should come to pass for my house I certainly will not be alone in this predicament. Also, as I am using it as a professional space as well, I have no real worries about making my mortgage so why would being "under water" cause me any great concern. Your cousin (my friend and teammate What) is always harping on this, as if this were a unique situation for me and/or something that would drive me from my home.
In re tags: I guess COST and REVS will make a comeback. Not that they ever fully left.
Posted by: wasder at September 30, 2008 2:16 PM
Teammate Wasder-- Get a nice mutt. Something with poodle for smarts and golden retriever for sweetness. And give him a really butch name!
Posted by: I_haz_TWO_toilets at September 30, 2008 2:18 PM
Cobblehiller--so did I and I answered proactively. I am pretty sure you had it right, as DOW has never taken any interest in the actual ins and outs of home ownership here. His/her main interest is in the market and in trumpeting declining house values. You were right the first time and no apologies needed.
Posted by: wasder at September 30, 2008 2:20 PM
wasder - I think DOW was actually interested in your waterproofing plans. (I'll shut up now.)
COST/REVS right, good ones!
I don't remember CAP. Now DOW correct me if I'm wrong but you sound like you actually know what you're talking about here. Now, you weren't one of those bad kids sneaking into train yards, were you.

Remember I was born, raised and will die in New York. I had friends who used to Bomb and draw comic book figures. One of them went on to work for Marvel and DC. Calvin was very very good!
I have Old school and New school books on Tagging from around the world. They are on PDF Flies plus I have pictures of people Bombs on my hard drive, maybe I will share them.
