Management Companies

Hey All, our condo is reviewing Management companies for hire. A couple we came across: Paradigm, Able Management, NYC Property Care, and Citadel. Can anyone give feedback on these companies or recommend others? Thanks for the help!

stay away from Tudor Management. Their staff is rude, super-aggressive, and vindictive.

Andrews building corp originally was the management office of my building.. They left me with no heat and with a leaky ceiling for three years. I had the fire department and the police department chased them to fix stuff and they would not consent to do the work. It is a condo that I own, Heat and leaky ceilings are the responsibiity on their end not mine. I had no access to the building mechanical equipment. But they did.

Stephen D Kessler was running the show for them at that time.

Now Tudor management manages tudor city buildings with john j grogan associates which manage my building. I have been harrassed by grogan associates thru Stephen D Kessler.

You don't want a misogynist running your building who happens to be a lawyer as well.

The above management companies will drain the finances of the building and you will get stuck with several special assessments and wild increases due to theft, negligence and incompetence.

I am almost certain that Kessler is a silent partner of john j Grogan associates.
It is a very bad setup.

This is who Kessler harrasses, women, homosexuals and people from foreign countries who either rent or own property and a few elderly as well.

His decision making is based on his personal preferences.

There is no Steven Kessler at Andrews Building Corp. A Property Manager by the name of Christopher Howe is very good. 212 529-5688 X290.

How many units in your building? New building or old? You might consider self management--search the archives for more info.

Good luck~

I would recommend *not* trying Advanced. They manage our building and are useless. They NEVER return phone calls, and we've had 3 different property managers in as many years. They also screwed up countless things related to our purchase of our apartment - pretty much anything that was their responsibility, they flubbed.

We (a 60-ish unit in flatbush/midwood/ditmas/...um brooklyn) selected Wentworth, it turns out a manager at the place we were replacing (Impact) had worked at wentworth. In my short (5yrs) life with mgmt co.s (3 different ones)

Hello Brownstoner,

You amy want to try Wright Management and Consulting, they are a family owned business, and do a decent job. They have been managing our building for three years. There have been some problems but for the most part they are very good. There number is 347-789-6550.

Good Luck

Just say "NO" to Advanced.

They manage (mis-manage is more like it) our coop and I find them to be disorganized, non-communicative and ineffective for even the simplest things.

I've worked with Steve Kessler at Grogan on projects where I was the architect and he has always been extremely helpful, efficient, etc, even in situation with conflicts between neighbors, and such that got quite problematic. I'm not saying use them for this condo, but I certainly do not find that madamlee's comments are echoed by my personal experience and I assume there is another side to whatever story is being told there.

Just to chime in re: Andrews. When our building hired them, they touted their extensive network of problem-solving professionals they were connected with, and yet when we needed someone to fix something, we seemed to be on our own in terms of finding qualified professionals. Personally, I had several bad experiences with Andrews, in terms of not following up on problems, one of which was a very bad leak from an upstairs apartment. I no longer live in this building and hear that they've improved, but, imho, if you can self-manage, it's really the way to go.
