Icestone kitchen counters
Anyone have an Icestone kitchen counter for a year or two---trying to find out how it ages.

I just saw some counters in a project that I put in just about three years ago. They held up very well, no noticable wear or staining. One of the apartment owners has five, yes, five kids, so they cook a lot! I'll use them again.

Is this any different than terrazzo flooring? I would wonder about maintenance: would this need to be polished or waxed?

according to icestone.biz, it needs regular waxing and the occasional sealing. No different from stone.

I doubt very seriously that the families whose units I was in are staying on top of maintaining their countertops. I think probably one of the factors that made them still look so sharp three years later is that the counters we put in are a riot of colors. Sort of a sherbert green base with multi-colored glasschips. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but either it helps hide the stains really well, or it's pretty resistant to stains in the first place. I would have no problems putting them in my anticipated kitchen re-do if it weren't for the fact that I'm dying to make my own concrete counter.

thanks---i've been hearing mainly positive things about wear. Anyone have any experience with A&K Tile Studio in Brooklyn---they're a fabricator/showroom suggested on the icestone site.
