How to Become a Licensed Contractor
Anyone know how to getting proper licensing and insurance for becoming a contractor? Any help, much thanks.

look up department of consumer affairs website licensing requirements and applications are posted.
As far as liability policies go, I love Utica First. They are in good financial shape and are responsive to small contractors.
If you have any problems researching the license call 311 and they will help you.

Keep in mind that if you use subcontractors and they don't have workmen's comp. insurance, you will be liable at an audit.
