hauling away heavy bags
I need suggestions of a service to call to haul away five heavy construction bags filled with old cement (dust and chunks). The bags were cleared from under our stoop by a handyman who tried to pack them so that they could be hauled away by sanitation as bulk items under the 60lb max. Clearly, they are too heavy since we have left them out twice (a few bags at a time) and the sanitation workers leave them behind. I would rather not repack them as they are really dusty and messy. Any advice for someone to call (pay) to haul them away? Thank you.

Try going out and giving Sanitation a hand loading them in the truck or giving them a $20. Can't hurt. Failing that I would try 1800-Got-Junk.

the trick with Sanitation workers is that they can't accept "tips" to take away stuff like this but at the same time they won't do it without that little incentive.....we "dropped" $20 bills on the street in front of them when we needed them to take away post-renovation stuff (that all fell within DofS guidelines, but they wouldn't take it otherwise). They picked up the money and the garbage, too!

1-800 got junk is a little pricey. I like the $20.00 bill idea. Don't put your address on here in case some inspector reads the blog.
