Built-In Design Help
Planning on building a large built-in bookcase/cabinets/desk along a long wall (~20ft) in my living room. We're pretty set on the general layout/organization of the pieces but feel that we need help with specifics such as scale/proportions and finishing details. Especially since it'll be the centerpiece of the room.
We love our contractor but he's definitely not a designer and are stuck finalizing plans and moving on with the project. Do folks recommend finding an architect? Interior designer? Any recommendations? Our taste is modern but not stark...
Thanks for any advice.

I can help you. I'm an architect and I've done a lot of built-ins for high end interiors and with my brother-in-law, a carpenter. I know what you mean about the carpenters. He would often bring me in after he'd already built something and would ask "what do I do now?" If you're interested give me a call tonight at (917) 679-6707

We actually have a few very fine craftspeople on our roster of coaches who can help you with layout, design work and walking through the process of building it yourself. www.constructioncoaches.com
