Any good books re basic Home Maintenance?
Anyone know of any good books on basic home maintenance? Ideally, the book would be geared towards older houses, but all suggestions are welcome.

I am fond of Renovating Old Houses: Bringing New Life to Vintage Homes
by George Nash, Taunton. If you search it on Amazon, you'll find some others relating to older homes that might interest you, too.

Vince: unrelated to this post, but I think you have suggested this before, I got it for my husband and he LOVES the book. We enthusiastically agree with Renovating Old Houses :)

"Renovating Old Houses" is the gold standard. Also "The Original Old-house Journal Compendium" by Clem Labine and Carolyn Flaherty is equally terrific.
Readers Digest and Black & Decker both have good practical series on various home maintenance topics.
My first reno book was one I inherited from my dad when I was 13: "Your Dream Home - How To Build It For Less Than $3500" by Hubbard Cobb, 1950. I wrote an article about it:

I've also recommended that book it's very good. If you get down to specialist issues (masonry, wood siding, specific topics) the best resource is the National Park service's conservation bulletins. They are awesome.
