homeowners insurance

We are buying a small rowhouse in Windsor Terrace and can not find an insurance company who will insure a wood-frame house that is more than 100 years old. The house is in good condition, btw. Any ideas how to get some coverage so we can close? We've called most of the companies I've seen mentioned in previous threads and no luck. It can't be uninsurable, can it? FWIW, we had it inspected and it is in great condition for the age. What is going on here?

Our south slope frame rowhouse is more than 100 years old (we think closer to 140) and we got a Fireman's Fund policy through HUB International as the broker and had proof of insurance for closing. They even insured us through extensive renovations. Not cheap but we were covered. Ask for Dorothy Cohen.

I used StateFarm for my 100 year old town-house.

try Chubb insurance. if something were to happen, they would rebuild it back to period quality/detail.

We have a 102 year old wood frame house in the South Slope and had the same problem when we closed a year ago. We ended up going with Chubb insurance, not cheap but good.
