Ventless Dryer or washer/dryer?
Our apartment has a washing machine hook-up and a 220V plug but no vent for the dryer. I've been looking at LG, Thor and Bosch for options. A friend also mentioned that I should look for a warehouse sale and try to buy a "scrath and dent" machine. Does anyone have any experience with these options, and can anyone recommend a vendor that would also handle the installation?

I have had an LG ventless washer/dryer combo for a number of years and am quite happy with it. It's gentle on the clothes and is relatively quiet and energy efficient. It's a great convenience to be able to put the clothes in and have them washed and dried when you return. The small-drummed version I have runs on 120v.
The downsides are the length of time it takes to wash and dry (4-5 hours total) and the fact that your clothes are much more wrinkly than they would be had they been dried in a tumble dryer. You definitely need to iron after taking the clothes out of the washer dryer.
