Rug Cleaner
We have a large (10'x14') Oriental rug which we'd like to have cleaned. The last time we did it the cleaners doubled the price once they had it and, essentially, held it hostage (we bargained them down, but still...).
Can anyone suggest a reputable rug cleaner who will pick up, clean and return for a reasonable price?

Try calling Atilla at Knotting Slope, 242 7th Ave. (between 5th & 4th Sts.), 718-832-2628. I am not sure whether they clean carpets that they do not sell, but they are knowledgeable and honest, with a beautiful selection of fine handmade carpets.

ABC has their own carpet cleaner. Pick up, delivery, good service.

I just used Majestic (718-542-7474) because they'd been recommended in NY Mag and various other places. They did an excellent job and the price was reasonable. They do all their Brooklyn pick-ups and deliveries on Thursdays, which is kind of annoying, but it only takes a week. Anyway, I'll definitely use them again in the future.

We just had a Chinese Deco rug which was sorely in need of cleaning and restoration, as well as an Indian rug which needed cleaning serviced by Megerian Rug
