Historic Photographs

I believe this topic has been discussed before…. I am wondering the best way to access NYC Department of Finance Historic property photos? I would love a historic photo of my property. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I found the link somewhere on the nyc.gov site years ago. Go poke around over there.

Go to the dept of taxation and finace site, and there is a link to the old tax photo request form. You'll need your block and lot #, which can get from the buildings information system website.

Jeez, why don't people try googling instead of posting these questions here?

Brownstoner- Is the commenter broken again? I only 'post' once, then got the 'wait a few minutes' page...looks like it created three records?

if you also just want to see the pictures (of your and your neighbor's house) sign up for the free version of http://www.propertyshark.com .

They have a lot of the taxation photos posted - at least they have mine.... They also have other more recent photos - if your neighborhood has been "targeted."

Brooklynnative, have you considered that these types of posts might inform people of things they don't know. Google is great when you know what you are looking for.... Forums are great when information may be valuable for the requestor and other forum members. Also notice that my previous post (the availability of tax photos on propertyshark.com) probably won't come up in a google search until after someone (like me) posts it somewhere....

i think BN meant, you could search these very archives for the answer to this question, which gets asked every other week.

also check out brooklynpix.com, they may not have your house, but they've got a big library of historic photos, i found a few around my house, pretty cool.

Google is useless. I find what I need maybe half the time. Google would rather sell me something than inform me of something.
