Buyer Beware! Price Gouging in Ft Greene
Yesterday we stopped by Fresh Gardens on Fulton in Ft Greene to pick up a few items. Amongst them we wanted sugar cubes (1 lb box) and Walkers Shortbread Rounds (5.3 oz). When we saw the Walkers price tag of $6.89 and the sugar cubes for $9.99 we were astounded and figured something was amiss. We walked out empty handed and made our way to the Korean deli next to CT Muffin on Lafayette to compare. True enough, we found our Walkers for $3.89 and sugar cubes for $5.69! Buyers beware!

People like you are causing all the problems in this country. Keep funneling your money to asia! Do you think the Korean deli pays taxes on that?

of course they pay just as much taxes as Fresh Gardens. What makes you think because they are Koren they are not reporting just as much sales as Fresh GArdens.
Racist Idiot. Get a clue.

I'm still in shock that you paid $5.69 for sugar cubes!
You can get them at the Key food for 1.99!!

Fresh Gardens people are the same people who own the Greene Farm or whatever it is called right next to the C entrance and the regular bodega.
They have always had high prices. I remember that when I was pregnant, I was addicted to Swiss yogurt and Greene Farm's prices were 20 percent higher than Garden of Eden - which is saying a lot since Garden of Eden is alway very high.
I think both of those stores have horrible customer service and I avoid both like the plague.

i wish 7th avenue in park slope had a gourmet garage.

unless there is a sugar and cookie shortage, i don't think this qualifies as "gouging".
just taking advantage of price insensitive and lazy shoppers.

Are you trying to emulate the europeans?
They use sugar cubes all the time.

convienence store...you pay for that, and overhead is different from store to store.
geez, I should start reporting the price swing between doctors, surgeons and attorneys, believe me its much greater then the pennies many worry about here.

That is a huge price difference. But some people never look at the price. That's why these stores can get away with it.

The sugar cubes are $49.99 at Green Grape Provisions.

Perhaps they were artisanal, free-range, dolphin-safe sugar cubes, harvested organically by paraplegic lesbians of color.
