who can fix this?

who can fix this?

hi Brownstoners,

I need to get my main entryway pillars repaired/replaced. Has anyone out there had similar work done? I really have no idea who to call to repair them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That is a mess.
Cast-iron column embedded in concrete gunk.
You need to hire an arhitect, and have them draw up plans and specs to have the job bid out competitvely to three or four restoration contrators. It looks like you will need a metals sub and a re-brownstone sub. You also need to make sure that whatever the column is holding up does not crash down while they do the work.
Really, get an architect. You will be glad you did.
