Waterproofing exterior brick
We have a 4 unit brownstone/brick coop that has peeling, lead-based paint in the back of the house. We're received 2 estimates for the removal. Both contractors would use Peel Away, but one swears by Toraseal (sp) to waterproof the bricks and another recommends water based silicone elastomer. Any recommendations of which would be better?

AFAIK, bricks should not be sealed and need to breathe.
We have Thoroseal applied by POs on our facade brick, and there is no way now to remove it. Please research your options before you do something irreversible. Best of luck!

2:53 is right, remove the paint, but don't paint it w thoroseal or anything. Only thing you could use, if you insist, is a classic wire mesh/stucco system. That allows the brick to breathe.

Hi Wolffe02, we are looking to remove paint on our facade too, is it possible to let me know how much your two contractors quoted you for the work?
