skylights & roof traps

I need to replace a skylight (the type on the top floor of the stair in a townhouse) on my roof. I also need to replace our roof trapdoor with a nice, new locking one. The roof trap door will be in my son's new room (creating 3 bedrooms up there) so I want it to be clean and safe. ANy recomendations for good, non-leaking skylights and roof trap doors? (which open easily?

Insula Dome makes great prefabricated skylights. You can some sizes at Home Depot and order sizes they don't have. Some can even open manually or electronically.

Bilco makes roof hatches.

Premiere roofing did great job on skyights and upgrading my roof hatch with a safer, cleaner hydraulic model. Totally recommend them for the job- and they were not the most expensive estimate I received.

You should get a good roofer to install the skylight and hatch to prevent leaks. A Bilco hatch with a piston assisted lift is great. You can get pyramid skylights made to order your roofer or contractor can help you with the right size.

I second the recommendation for Premiere Roofing. They replaced our skylight and hatch 4 years ago.
