seeking architect for bstone reno

We are looking for an architect to design a new half-story on top of our brownstone, and to open/brighten our parlor floor (adding a kitchen to that floor as well). We'd like someone with a modern aesthetic, but who will preserve some of the original details, and make it all look like it belongs. Someone with an interest in ecological systems and materials is a big plus. Any recommendations would be most welcome.

You should try Big Prototype, a small Red Hook architecture firm run by two Yale Architecture grads. Their rates are reasonable and their taste runs modern. They just redesigned and helped manage the renovations of an entire 3 story brownstone for me. I was very pleased with the results.

I forgot to mention that Big Prototype is very eco-conscious--they used recycled materials in one of my kitchens.

I haven't worked with them (although I know Perla and she's great) but look through their portfolio - they have an amazing aesthetic and some really creative ideas for brownstones.

Try Dubravka Antic at 917-304-2288. We are in the last phase of our brownstone gut reno. It is definitely a modern interpretation of a brownstone. We have been very happy with her work.

I Agree with Jane. Dubravka Antic of Seem+Less Architects has been a great help to us. on several projects(residential and commercial). If you want a "star architects" design without the "starchitect" bill. We are about to do some new things in Brooklyn are are definitely going to use Dubravka nd her partners of Seem+Less.
