Prospect Lefferts Garden Feedback

Anyone have feedback on living in the Prospect Lefferts Garden area? Seems like some streets are better than others? Is there enough cafes/bars and mellow but fun social life? Also, is the B train and commute really 30 mins to midtown? Any feedback would be great... thanks!

The Manor section is the most desirable, but I walk many of the streets of plg everyday and see some neat blocks along the way. The social scene centers around Enduro and the Lime. I've never been to Lime, but I hear it's nice. There is also another place for live music, poetry etc..., but I can't remember the name. The B and Q are quick, but door to door might take closer to 45 min.

The trains are great. The highpoint of the social scene is that its one stop to 7th Ave.

Everybody mostly goes to Park Slope for nicer restaurants or for shopping. It's a 15 minute beautiful walk across the park in nice weather, or one stop away on the B/Q. Still, trust me, the whole neighborhood is gettin' organized and going to do more and more to get better amenities. The new tall glass condo on Lincoln when it is finished will have high-end commercial tenants on the lower two floors, per the developer and architect who have talked to residents.

Funny enough, the lack of restaurants might be what makes the neighborhood so social. I have never lived anywhere in my life where we hang out with neighbors as much as we do here in PLG's LM.

The other place(s) are K-Dog & Dunebuggy, on Lincoln Rd., and the Inkwell, on Rogers Ave.(which, among other things, hosts PLG Arts' monthly Jazz night).

BTW, I've organized PLG Arts' first annual group art show at K-Dog (43 Lincoln Road). We'll be hanging it Monday and it will run through June 8th; the reception is May 23rd, from 7--9.

The annual house tour, on June 1st, is a great introduction to the neighborhood. It's not on the LMA website yet (DON'T ASK) but should be soon

Also, this site gives a lot of info, even though it's no longer active:

And THIS active PLG blog has lots of current information:

The B/Q really is fast. 30 minutes or less to Midtown. It's a very good train. But you have to calculate the wait, too. It's all about your timing arriving on the platform. I had to take the B for one contract job every day for a few months. If it didn't arrive right away, I'd end up waiting 5 to 7 minutes.
