Interior ladder to roof
We have a freestanding metal ladder to our roof hatch and, with a crawling baby, it's both dangerous and ineffective.
Do you have a different interior ladder configuration to recommend? Also, if you know where I could purchase a new, sturdy ladder please let me know.
Thanks.

We've been looking at ship's ladders. Also, take a look at these "architectural stairs":

Our seller of our condo built in a wooden 'stair' that takes up less space that the 'architectural stair' noted above. It is steep, but safer and much nicer than the metal ladder that was there before. I can take a photo and post it later. It was very well done...

Cut two sheet of 1/2 plywood so they fit between the metal steps of the ladder about 48" high and bolt them together on each side. It prevents anyone small from climbing.

This is great, we need the same info. Also, does anyone know if the fire code requires the ladder be metal? It might, because supposedy it's for the firefighters to use if they need to do so, right?

actually, it is a fire escape for you, too, so I would think YOU would want it to be metal.
