Good Mortgage broker
I am looking for a good, honest mortgage broker who could help with a mortgage for a HDFC coop that is going to have complicated ownership. The property is in Brooklyn. Suggestions?
Comments
I used to live in an HDFC Coop and it was difficult obtaining morgtages until the coop developed a relationship with a bank that would issue mortgages. The Sales committee in the coop I lived in were helpful in recommending the bank that would work with the prospective buyer. (I don't remember the bank that was recommended.) So, maybe you could ask the coop for a recommendation based on their experience.
I also remember that that they worked with an organization called Neighbors Helping Neighbors. They are located in Brooklyn (Sunset Park, I believe) You could give them a call--I"m sure you could find the number on the web.

I highly recommend Norman Calvo from Universal Mortgage. He's in Park Slope.

Norman will try to give the mortgages he has - not necessarily the best ones for you, as I found out. Go to a larger mortgage agency if you go the broker route - they have more options.

I've had a good experience working with Victor from Manhattan Mortgages.
