Going rate for painters
Have always painted apts myself, but have a full house now, and am wondering if the cost of the painter is more worthwhile than my effort cost. What's the going rate for a painter per square foot these days?

$0.85 to $0.95/SF (labor and material). You might get a bit of spackling of limited cracks and imperfections within that price but it definitely doesn't include prep work such as wholesale sanding of walls or cutting out and re-filling cracks in plaster walls. Also does not include wood trim (unless you're slapping the same paint on that as you're putting on the walls).

Thanks johnife-
is that psf floorspace, or linear feet of wall space? So for instance, if I've got 1200 square feet to paint, and that works out to something like 2000sqft of walls, and I looking at $1200 or $2000? And that typically includes the paint?

It's per square foot of wall (i.e., the surface area you're actually applying paint to). Yes, the rate includes the paint.
