Varivalve for single pipe steam
Has anyone used this brand of vent on their single pipe steam radiators? I'm replacing some vents and was thinking that these look like the way to go -but I've never tried em.
And for you cynics - I'm not advertising them. I'm simply soliciting advice.

I installed them this season and so far so good. Much quieter than the regular Hoffman type. I believe they have a shorter lifespan however. Also I bought them online and paid about $15/each by ordering a box of 10. Plumbing supply was over $20/each.

actually, my experience is that they are more durable than hoffman

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll buy a 10 pack and change the valve on every radiator in the house.

FYI, I am a steam fanatic...If your steam system makes a lot of noise, I don't think it's the brand that is at issue, but the model...The steam is escaping too quickly if you hear it.
I would check:
- make sure your main steam valves, usually in basement, are clean and working...it's critical to have working steam main vents...i just replaced both of mine as the old ones looked like 100 years old and were fused shut...
- you have the right vent on each radiator and it's working...there are adjustable models which work well or hoffman or the brand you mention...
