Professional Cleaning Service
I'm renovating a rental unit, with a complete rewiring, gut renovating of the kitchen, plastering and painting. The apartment will need to be professionally cleaned afterwards. It's in the Center Slope. Any recommnendations? The unit is about 1200 square feet - any idea on what the cost should be? thx.

Varies
$100 for a regular cleaning person
$300 for a crew that will do a thorough job
$2,500 for a truly professional post construction cleanup

$2500 are you serious? I could sand the floors for less than that.

Sanding is not cleaning
What does one have to do with the other
Like I said you can get it done for $100
Probably less if you hire someone illegally

The connection between sanding and cleaning is that 90% of this job is getting rid of the dust. If I hire people to sand the floors, they create a lot of dust but then clean it as part of their cost. I called and they said they can sand very dusty floors, as long as there is no paint or plaster on them. They then clean up all the dust before applying the poly. So, you see, I'd be putting some of the cost of just cleaning the floors to having them sanded.

When I did my post construction (Gosh, it's been 2 years now, though) I called around. $600ish was the going rate for cleaning with HEPA vac. I was too cheap so I kept looking. I used Today's Maid (no HEPA). They charged $350 for a 3BR duplex and I was very happy with them.

Brooklynnative,
Would you mind sharing what you're spending on your reno? We're contemplating a similar project.

For $600 you can buy a really nice miele vacuum with a hepa filter. I can't remember the exact cost, but I suspect that for that much you could also buy one of those robot vacuums (roomba/scooba) so you don't even have to do the work.

We used miracle maids, I believe in the Slope. They sent two people who did a fantastic job -- The rate was 39$ per person per hour for post construction clean up. Don't have their contact info, but should be able to find them on the web

That 4:02, I've called both Miracle Maids and Today's Maid. Miracle wants $39 a person, Today's will do it for $27.00. Today's will also come and give me a quote after seeing it. Miracle just gave me a quote over the phone. Seems like Today's is the way to go.
