Parquet Floors

I have oak parquet floors that are about 40 years old.

My bedroom was flooded with water.

I mopped up the whole mess.

How do i repair the floor?

Comments

Rip it up and install a new floor.

Let the floors dry out for a week or two. Depending on how much water soaked in, they might flatten out when they dry. I had a flood and the edges of the wood curled. I was all set to re-sand my floors when they went back flat....

According to your profile you live in a rental. Unless the deluge was a result of letting your bath overflow, which is the only event I can conceive of that would cause a "flood" and that could be classified as your own fault, why aren't you prevailing upon the landlord to do the repair?

Ysabelle, Don't bother to fix it no one else is going to see it anyway. What happened did your fat ass cause the waterbed to explode?

I'm with 3:25. My parlor floor parquet floors were warped by a flood from the bathroom upstairs, looking unsalvageable. The insurance adjustor told me to wait 2 weeks-she'd seen it before-before getting back to her. She said they would at most need a couple nails. She was right as they soon flattened out w/o needing any nails. Give it some time. Open the windows. Those floors are tougher than they look. I was glad I waited.
