Kitchen Need a Vent?
I am considering relocating a kitchen to center of fllor thru apartment. Does a kitchen by code require a vent to th eoutside or a window?
This 4 family house.

Sorry about those typo's.
The apt is a floor thru, not a fllor thru.
The vent has to go to the outside, not to th eoutside, and This is a 4 family house. (Legal 4 used as a (4))

if your stove is within 20' of a window then you don't need a direct vent.

code or not, you are crazy to contemplate a kitchen without a proper outside venting range hood, unless the only thing you will ever put on the stove is a tea kettle.

We got our basement kitchen plans kicked back because the back of the kitchen was more than 20 feet from the window (I think it was 21). So you are required by code to have the back wall of the kitchen within 20 feet, not just the stove.

The code is 30 feet, not 20 feet and it's the back wall of the kitchen, not the stove.
