ilegal deck
Next door there is a two floor extension. There is a 20% wooden deck on top of the extension. The tenants go out to dec from kitchen window or fire escape. Lots singles drinking parties there and bbq. Is this a legal deck?

You should be asking how you can get invited to the singles drinking parties instead.

Sounds like you have deck envy...and no social life. Maybe if you flash them, they'll invite you over. Legal? Everything is legal until you get caught. This is Brooklyn. Stop being a peeping tom...that's illegal, or immoral.

I agree. That person's deck should not be YOUR battle to fight. Have the decency to go to your neighbor and tell him or her that the parties are a little loud. What happen to good old fashioned communication? If they get really out of control, call the police. Don't go some underhanded route of trying to "stick it to them" just so you can feel good about doing something really bitchy. There's nothing cool, productive, or neighborly about that.
I hope nobody responds to the post and helps you feed your pain body.

What is happening inside of you that makes you want to do something nasty to your neighbor. I feel like your post is a veiled attempt to make a dig at your neighbors, not a genuine request to help them in any way.
Shake the negativity. Really though.

It is probably not legal, your options are to speak to your neighbor about noise. If that doesn't work, report the illegal structure to 311.

An extension with a roof is not classified as a deck. Go nyc.gov and look it up. Speak with the landlord about his loud tenants. Or write him a letter or print out this thread.
Stop being a miserable hater.
