Garden Design Help

We are trying to find garden design help for our Carroll Gardens house. Does anyone have any recommendations? We are looking for plantings, some paver or blue stone areas, cover for the cinder block walls, minor lighting using already existing electrical and some type of water feature. Any advice or referrals would be much appreciated. Thanks

No - the answers are not sufficient. Gowanus never returns calls so they are of no help. Other than Dig which I'm contacting there is no other good suggestion. Thus I must continue posting. Thanks for the tip.

I heard that the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens has some sort of course on garden design for brownstone owners. Maybe there's some info on their website.

Try stoneandgarden.com. They've got a show garden on Vanderbuilt. I've talked to Andrew (aussie?) and he seems to be a nice guy. Gave me a ballpark quote over the phone for a stone patio. He's a big permaculture/hardscaping proponent and is associated with the BBG.

We are using a garden designer based in Hoboken NJ for our townhouse in Chelsea. His name is Adam Hoppe and his email is adhdesign@optonline.net. He is very easy to work with, has great ideas, and is reasonably priced. His work is in some magazines so you can see what he does. Good luck.

DIG does a nice job...did ours and we're pleased.

For mulch and soil I just go to Lowes in Brooklyn. I got a couple shrubs there too, which are doing fine. To find a big selection you need to leave Brooklyn. I did most my garden shopping at nurseries on Long Island. Dee's and Atlantic for plants, and Martin Viette for some large dramatic planters during their big annual sale in Fall when they sell them two for one.

Try Sustain Landscape Design. their web site is at www.sustainlandscapedesign.com.

My neighbor used them and their yard looks great.

As I imagine this thread will be searched this time of year, I want to mention that DIG visited me over three weeks ago to discuss my job (not big but not small). I still have no estimate, and my phone calls are unreturned. Buyer beware.

DIG did the same to me--visited several weeks ago and promised an estimate in a week, then never sent anything or returned my calls.
