cost to install hot water heating system

We're looking at a brownstone with forced air heat. Does anyone have a general idea what it would cost to replace it with hot water radiator heat? 4 floors, 2 units.

The cost varies tremendously, mostly because of the type of radiators that you choose, the cheepest are the baseboards that some people think look like electric heaters, the more expensive and in my opinion worth the money are the case iron radiators. The piping can vary also, all inside the walls or do you mind some exposed? The best bet is to get a couple of heating contractors to give you estimate and pick their brain while they are going through your building. It is definatly worth the cost over hot air heating, it is expensive to install, but much cheaper & healthyer to run.Alladin or Ciazzo are a good start.

We're pulling out an old defective steam system and putting in a hot water system as part of a bigger renovation. The price quote on the work is 17K. Four floors, four zones. The radiators will be another 2-3K. I'm not sure about the furnace cost yet.
