Clinton Hill Co-ops

I am interested in the Clinton Hill Co-ops, but I'm not clear on the differences between the buildings and the apartment lines. I am looking for a 2 BR. Are some nicer/larger than others? I have looked at the CHC website, but it isn't clear to me. Many thanks in advance.

I live in a 2-bedroom on the c line. The layouts in all of the buildings are essentially the same although the windows differ a little bit between the south and north campuses. While the basic floor plans are as indicated on the website some one-bedrooms have been made into two bedrooms by enclosing a dining/living room nook. Also, some of both types of apartments have a kitchen that is open to the living room while others are enclosed.

Welcome, its a great place to live.

4:25 pm - but there is no better value for your money than Clinto Hill Coops - and I should know - I own there. one must not judge a book by it's cover!

I used to live in the south side of the Clinton Hill Co-ops. The south side has the bigger picture windows in the livingroom (the north side has divided windows that are slightly smaller). As the first poster noted above, the layouts are pretty consistent (they were build by the federal government...) and there are some true two bedrooms - two bedrooms, kitchen, livingroom and dinning area with one bathroom, and converted two bedrooms.

Some people converted one bedrooms into two bedrooms by enclosing the dinning area (it's the area between the kitchen and the living room). So if the unit you are looking at, doesn't have a dinning area, it is a converted 1 bedroom and is smaller than a real two bedroom (which has both bedrooms next to each other at the end of a hallway).

I think as a general rule, there are only two real two bedrooms on each floor (at least on the south campus) and both are corner units.

The main think I didn't like about living there was the amount of noise that transferred from one apt to another, especially if you had people above you. If you can find a top floor unit, it would be ideal - not only for the noise, but the views and amount of sunlight from some of the apts is great.

Yep its quite utilitarian looking because it was built for the Navy but if you get a high floor you have views for life because the surrounding blocks are landmarked.

I might be wrong but I think that the REAL 2 BR's are the C and F line, and that is for all the buildings.
Great place...good luck with your search!

We used to live on the F line (8th floor) and I can't tell you how much we loved the layout, sunshine streaming through oversized windows, having two true bedrooms, plus living room and dining room. We renovated the kitchen by knocking down a wall and opening it up into the pantry area. Amazing views of rooftops and architecture of local churches and Brooklyn clock tower. Only reason we sold is because we wanted some outdoor space. They are indeed the best deals around, and I'm sure they will continue to increase in value. You cannot get anything else in the historic neighborhood of Clinton Hill for under 500K. So they are a steal. The neighbors are friendly and warm. Keep your eyes open for a two-bedroom apartment on the F line. Best of luck.

South campus is better in my opinion (it's where I live). Very friendly community, nice big windows, nice sized apts. the C and F lines are the real 2 bedrooms. I highly recommend living here. I think it's the best value in the neighborhood.

Haven't been to the apts but everyone we meet at Underhill Park that lives there seems very nice. Good luck.

I've lived in the North Campus for 2 years, and I LOVE IT! I have a 1 bedroom, but I think the previous poster that in pretty much every building the *true* 2 bedrooms are the C and F line, and they are identical layouts.

I actually don't have any problems with noise. I am on a high floor and have gorgeous Manhattan views. Good luck with your search.

Another plus is that they've recently installed a coogeneration plant in the North campus and I believe are planning an installation in the South campus as well. Its supposed to generate some savings and will provide some power in the event of a blackout.

We live in the North campus in a real two bedroom in the H line. It was a tremendous value when we bought 8 years ago and enjoy living there. It's not much to look at on the exterior but the buildings are kept clean and there is full time security.

I would not put a bid in that is over 500 PSF if I were you.
