I used Joel Petrilla (joefixesit@yahoo.com) to build some bookcases. He did a good job, and was not expensive.

Markus Bartenschlager at mbartenschlager@hotmail.com. He made a beautiful media center with lots of shelving to hold my DVDs. My fiance and I gave him a sketch of what we wanted, and he delivered.

I would highly recommend Ian St. George for this project. He's easy to work with, reasonably priced, & produces super high quality product - plus, he loves what he does.

It really depends on how high end you want them. The same workers don't generally do all levels. Some pine boards painted are cheap, but still look nice. Nice hardwood carpentry is more expensive, and that comes in a great variation of finish quality and related cost.

My tenant Stephen Pino has done beautiful work in my home. A wood door with glass and just recently a custom set of bookshelves that matches the molding of my 1870s home and looks as if its been there forever.
His number is 718 858 1712.
