portable A/C unit
Anyone know of a portable A/C that does not require a window exhaust?

There isn't any way to exchange the lost heat and humidity if you don't use a window...so NO.

Agree with 2:33. Not possible. I also don't recommend those Penguino a/c units that are designed not to block out your whole window. They have a vent hose that goes out the window, but the hose gets so hot and radiates so much heat, it pretty much counteracts the a/c.

Actually there are non-venting AC units that use water to absorb the heat and a condenser to dehumidify the air. They require a constantly running water source and a drain, so they really aren't economical for residential use.
This type of unit is only really used in labs, manufacturing, or hot electronics rooms where there isn't ventilation possible to the outside. They tend to be quite large as well.

Just in case the OP is not just referring to a window AC, I post the floowing link:

Of course 2:33 and 8:33 are correct. In order to cool and dehumidify the air, you need somewhere to send the heat (out the window) and somewhere to put the humidity aka water (in a tank).

where can we find out the size of the non-venting a/c's and the cost, assuming they dont cost much more to run than normal a/c.

We tried a portable A/C unit and it was horrible, despite being one of the better recommended ones. The unit is gigantic and the hose to vent to outside looks ridiculous and is large. Not to mention, the unit, despite having a high BTU, was ineffective. We went right back to the window unit and considered the money and aggravation returning the portable unit as a learning experience.

We are in need of original parlor floor door molding. It doesn't have to be perfect as we can piece it together. In fact if pieces is all that's available, and free of lead paint, we'd love take it off of your hands.
Thanks.
