Pocket door hardware - Von Morris?

Pocket door hardware - Von Morris?

I am looking for pocket door hardware for single pocket doors as well as double pocket doors (bathrooms & closets as well as on parlor floor). Have come across Von Morris:

Anyone used this or similar? They cost more than I like but the alternatives I have found so far seem either flimsy or even more expensive. Suggestions?

Try http://www.charlestonhardwareco.com, after an extensive search they were a great find! I purchased the Lorraine reproduction model but they have many styles - just go to the REPRODUCTION - DOOR HARDWARE - SET HARDWARE - POCKET DOOR link. The site needs help but their customer service was great - I had to return an item and they helped me personally via the phone.

Good Luck!

Our contractor told us the cheap pocket door hardware always has problems, so we went with the top of the line. I have to say, haven't had a problem in three years. We bought it at a great store on the bowery, can't remember the name, but it's pretty well known.

you have to actually go to their store and check out their hardware cause the website isn't all that great, but they have always been good to me.

I've spent thousands at Design Source and recommend them. You definitely have to go there, as they have tons of catalogs in addition to what's on display. The salesman I've used is Bill--I forget his last name--a very helpful guy.

You should also check out Crown City Hardware online. Good luck.

I can't specifically comment on the pocket door hardware, but I bought some Von Morris mortise sets because we wanted to convert a number of bedroom and bathroom doors to thumbturn locks, and the quality is excellent. At pretty much any dealer, the whole line is special order, but they'll have a sample board on display. I bought mine from Gracious Home, and lucked out on a door hardware sale, so they were 15-25% off (I forget the exact figure). They were mis-ordered in a slightly wrong finish, and Gracious Home was very good about getting them quickly replaced for me.

von morris is pretty good, not top of the line, but they do make a lot of unusual pieces. make sure you know how to care for it--i think i made a mistake with our v.m. hinges and used brass polish when i shouldn't have and removed some of the clearcoat. doh!

lol, polished brass, should never see brasso or noxon. Polished brass has a clear lacquer coat on it which will be taken off if used w/ chemical cleaners.

Also, polished brass looks like crap from Home Despot. You should definitely the raw kind that develops a patina, like the original hardware that came in these old houses. You can polish it if you're anal, but I like how it looks natural....
