lead paint inspection necessary if you're renovating anyway?
We're buying an old brownstone and wonder if it's worth paying for a professional lead inspection - this was beyond the scope of our standard inspection. Since we're planning to renovate anyway, it is not worth the money to inspect for lead?

when you renovate, the only required inspection is for asbestos. You can not file a job with our an asbestos inspection and submitting an asbestos report to the building department.

Unless the place was renovated/gutted since 1978, you have lead. Save your money.

yeah, what would be the point? There's lead in ALL old (pre-1970's) paint. You just take precautions with stripping and managing the dust when you do the renovations (or not - many people don't, though it is their kids who pay the price, them being more sensitive to it.)
