House Number
The original number gold-leafed (I assume)house number on the glass transom above my door has all but disappeared. Does anyone recommend re-doing it myself, and if so, how? Stencils and gold paint? I know gold leafing is difficult. Or, does anyone have a recommendation as to who might do this for me?
And along those lines, any recommendations for a place to buy a metal house number to affix to the house's basement entrance?

If you would like a REAL artist to do it with real gold leaf- Antonio Romano 646.415.0773. He did the gold leaf on the bar Tano the old school way.

You can also have gold foil cut with a black vinyl outline at Sign Select on 9th Street.

Aimee German...don't have her # but do a search on brownstoner and she'll pop up. She did a nice job for us.

I just ordered vinyl numbers that are supposed to look like the real thing (gold leaf) from speedysigns.com. I chose the Harrington font. The cost for all four numbers (w/shipping was around $16). The price goes according to how large you want the font.
It's supposed to be really easy to install. Once I receive and install them, I'll take a pic and post it. Hopefully, it will look close to the real thing. If not, only $16 was lost.

ditto to faithful, I just received my numbers two weeks ago, but I must wait until the temp is over 55 to apply, they look really good. Maybe not as good as gold leafing but for the price convenience and quality(no, really they do look good) I ordered gold with black border also from speedy signs, I think Harrington font.

no, small job, i think the application in the instructions on the website to use water and a mix will be fine, I'll let you know when the weather warms up.

I must disagree with the other posters here. I had terrible experience with SpeedySigns.com. The numbers they shipped were not what I wanted, and the customer service rep at SpeedySigns.com was very rude and refused to help. I feel I wasted $30. I would not recommend Speedy Signs; there are many better and cheaper alternatives for custom vinyl lettering.
