Condo near Public Place

I'm looking at bidding on a a condo on Luquer St. near the Gowanus Public Place project. Do people think that the impact of living near a major brownfield remediation and construction site for 5 years has been properly factored into asking prices? Recent sales? Are we crazy to think about buying there at all?

Public Place aint happening anytime soon. If it does happen do really want do live next to a brownfield? Why would you expect a discount? There is rarely any guarantee that you will be construction zone free.

We were looking at some point to buy a place in Gowanus as well. Friends of us advised us against it. Something about the ground not being clean, environmental waste issues. I was told that certain developers are getting the land for free as the cost to clean up is so high. Don't know how much of this is true. This was only one of many reasons we ended up not buying.
