Architect for minor job?

We are considering buying a 1250 sq ft one-bedroom apartment that we'd like to turn into a 3-bedroom. There's an obvious spot for a second bedroom but I could definitely use a consultation with someone who understands flow to help us figure out the second one. Does anyone know an architect who would just consult with us and maybe draw up a floor plan for a contractor to follow? It's a small job, and I'm not sure if this is something most architects would do.

You have to file this with the DoB. It's not such a small job. Many local Architect's would do this hourly if that's what you want. Sorry, I don't have a recommendation, though.

It shouldn't cost you more than a few thousand dollars, if that's any consolation. $1-1,500 for expediter and $2k for the architect (roughly).

I work for a NY-state licensed architect, who also is a structural engineer. While he is based in PA, he is licensed in MANY states and would view this opportunity as just a car ride away; and yes, he is reasonable rate wise.
