Subway tile - mix of ceramic and Carrera
I'm doing some retiling of a guest bathroom. The tile around the tub is white subway ceramic tile which is newish. The rest of the bathroom has 4 feet high beadboard panelling, which is circa 80s. I'm thinking of replacing just the beadboard with honed Carrera subway tiles. The tub is off in its own alcove, so would it be weird to have this mix? Would appreciate input from Mrs. Limestone.

My first reaction would be that I don't think you could mix white subway tile with carrera without it looking odd. Marble tile is expensive so it would be a shame to do all that work and not love the end result. Im sure it could be mixed in the right circumstances (Im having a hard time imagining your bathroom as you describe it).

I think it would look pretty strange, because the subway tile is white, and marble, is, well marble.
Why not save your pesos and just stick with the white subway tile?

Check out the Restoration Hardware website where you'll see subway tiles matched with white carrara - looks very nice. The only thing is that the subway tiles are of a slight blue tint for a nicer contrast. In any event, I think subway tiles and white carrara look good together.
