Strange Odors
I posted about this before, but I'm still stumped. Does anyone have any advice about getting rid of something that smells like rancid cooking odors coming from our closet? We live in a pre-war building in prospect park south.

Get rid of your neighbors on the other side of the closet.

Seriously, What would you like people here to do. You did post this before and got about a dozen or so helpful responses.
I dont know what else you think people here can do for you. It smells, you dont where its coming from, we get it. Until you know what the smell is and where it is coming from, the onlty thing people will do is speculate and possibly make fun of you.
Hire someone to investigate, or call the super/managemnet, etc.

Here's a thought.
In my building (an old school house) I was getting a foul odor. Couldn't figure out where or what it was. I finally ripped into the wall and discovered a vent pipe that ran up into the crawlspace/attic area but didn't go all the way up through the roof.
So the smell would come and go depending on air pressure inside the stack etc. The solution for the short term was to simply put a plastic shopping bag over the top.
The long term solution was to get a cap which has a one way valve so that when the stack needs to "inhale" the flap opens, but otherwise it is closed.
Not sure if this helps, but it was an experience of mine.

An open box of baking soda, placed in the closet, would absorb alot of the odor.

An open box of baking soda or borax will help with the odor in the short term. In the long run you'll need to figure out where the smell is originating from, which might require opening up the walls or floor. The odor might be indicating a dead mouse or worse problem.

No need for more advice for the OP. 9:23 is right. The OP got great advice on the previous thread already.
Hate to break it to you, but yes, solving this issue will take a bit of research and follow-through and effort on YOUR part, OP. It's what being a grownup is all about.
