Smelly New Radiators
We bought two new radiators (Governale - gov-free) back in October but have kept the valves closed because they smell so bad when on. It's a sort of a chemical smell, hard to describe. We've tried to "burn it off" with no luck. We plan to call the manufacturer but are wondering if anyone's had a similar experience or knows what the smell is and how to correct. The radiators have not been painted if that's relevant. Thanks.

My governale radiators smelled for a week or so and then did not after that

It's the oil used in the manufacturing process. After a week or so it's gone.

8.22am is right - we had the same issue but after a week or so with the heating on the smell was gone. I don't think there's anything that can be done bar letting the hot water inside heat the smell away.

Had to Google Governale to realize that we have the radiator, and they were smelly when installed. Not sure if its the oil or the primer finish. But like others said, it goes away.
