Security iron work cost $$$
Estimate recently given by Vinnie's Italian Ironworks seems high - 2 windows, one garden apt entrance door(no decoration), and front entrance french-door style with transome. Ornamental elements consist of two rows of circles; one top one bottom and small decorative elements alterate rows on the bars.
Quote given $8,000.00 - is this extremly high? We are told they are "expensive" but do good work. Thoughts?

their work sucks. They did a basement door for me and one of the welds did not hold.

They are fast and they do very good work. No, they are not cheap, but they made a perfect, identical replacement for part of my iron fence and an exact duplicate post from what they have in stock. I think it was about $2,500-2,800 to remove a modern 6' high iron fence, fabricate a 3' curved section to match the original and supply one new identical original post for the gate.

I recently had a very good experience with Rafael from Artistic Iron Works. Very competitive quote for a strip and paint job, reliable and fast. They can be reached at 718-491-2674.

you get waht you pay for. our cellar doors from vinny's cost $3,000 and has been solid. no complaints

Vinny's did a bunch of work for us. They have lots of old molds and patterns which means they can replicate historical fixtures. But that's the only positive. For starters communication was a big problem. The work was slipshod. They had to redo a bunch of it and didn't bother to shield a window while using a welding torch so that we have metal fragments burned into the glass! And now, just a few years later, we have seriously bad rusting on our cellar hatches, and a gate (to our french door to the deck off the parlor) that doesn't close properly. Avoid them!

We had Vinnie restore our fence- our totally rusted and ruined original fence- it looks perfect. They are miracle workers as far as I am concerned. His bedside manner is questionable at best, but the work was superb. Definitely worth it, since I am not marrying the guy, just getting my fence done. :)

Vinnie's did front and back cellar doors for me for $1,800 last fall. They did the work in two days and thus far I have been satisfied w/the quality. I encourage you to get a quote from them in writing prior to starting the job. When I was researching iron workers, I saw several old posts suggesting that Vinnie's changed the price after they did the work. I got a quote in writing, which they honored.

I got quote from Vinnies as well for wrought iron fence with walkway gate and driveway gate for $5400, I went with Piscopo's they quoted me $3750, big difference and I was told Piscopo was expensive but did better work. Very happy with workmanship and fence.

Hi. I used Custom Metal Products and they were prompt and fair. Plus Mr. Irving knows and works with "original" metal work as well as new installs.

Avoid Vinnie's at all costs. They tried to rip me off several years ago. Ok work, but WAAAY overpriced. Unpleasant to deal with as well.

I got two steel doors (front and back door/gate) for 1400 installed from the metal worker on my block in bed-stuy. The guys name is Nelson- on Vernon ave between marcy and nostrand on north side of block. I really like the doors, no fuss, nothing fancy but do the job. Check him out.
