Deck building costs?
Any thoughts on how much might it cost to build a deck on the roof of a first story space that juts out? The space seems ripe for it, it just needs the wooden floor, a rail of some sort and to be done legally, i.e. with all the city's approvals and fees. The space is about 20 x 6. Any ballpark guesses would help.

hard to estimate the cost. check out some of the deck sites mentioned in the archives. i've heard good things about urban exteriors but have no personal experience.

Sketch and Hammer did ours. Needed a lot of patience and forbearance, but did a good job on time. 10x12 with spiral metal stairs down and combo wood/metal railing was abt 12k

Should no way cost you more than $7,000. either using steel beams on the walls or floating your deck on the roof which ever situation applies to your structure. Call Matt at 347 417 4500.
