ADT security question

Curious if anyone else has experienced this: I canceled my maintenance contract with ADT about a year ago. Before that, I had no trouble with my alarm system. Since I canceled my maintenance contract, I have had several mysterious alarm events, two of which required someone to come out to my home. And of course I have to pay for this. It is infuriating. Anyone else believe ADT is setting off false alarms to squeeze more money out of their customers?

You mean you had an ADT alarm system with no monthly fee? I'd like to hear more about this...

If you cancelled the contract, why don't you unplug the system.

We canceled ours a year ago because it was a rental and we didnt want to continue to pay for it when we moved in.

I called ADT to find out what I should do with the system and they talked me through unplugging it.

No problems since

Oh no, I pay the monthly fee of $42, but on top of that they offer a maintenance fee, which is just a way to raise the price. I think it's 15 a month or something... but I had not realized I had agreed to that when I signed the contract. When I realized it, I canceled it. Within two weeks, I started having problems.. Like alarm events at 2 in the morning that had never happened before...

You need to get a security system to protect you from ADT.

I found a ADT sign in the garbage.

Stuck in my front door.

Cost me nothing.

It's impossible. ADT can't dial in and trip you're alarm. They might if they could, but it isn't possible. They can dial in and turn the system on (not off), or change your codes, but they can't set false alarms. Electronics break - if they didn't I'd be unemployed.
