Separate Heating units
I want to put separate heating units in each apt of a three family brownstone. Currently there is oil furnace and radiators. Any suggestions on best type of heat to install in each unit. Would forced air or hot water be easist to install. I dont want to rip up walls to install if possible.

Hotwater would be easier, only copper pipe to circulate the water. You could get the small high efficiency boilers that also take care of domestic hotwater for showers, kitchen, etc (I'm not talking about the separate tankless water heaters, but boilers that also supply domestic hotwater): look into Baxi Luna, Laars Mascot, etc. if you switched to gas. You would still need to vent them through the chimney like your current oil boiler (furnaces technically, heat air; boilers heat water), but could vent them with 3" PVC pipe, which would save you having to reline the chimney. This is what they do in the U.K. at least. The boiler goes into a small closet. It could cost a bit.
