Radiator Covers

Does anyone have a source for radiator covers for circulating water radiators?

Our first baby is starting to get mobile.

Thanks.

We got nice, custom-made metal radiator covers from National Metal Enclosures on Atlantic Avenue in East New York. You should be able to find their contact info online. They do wooden covers too. There were a couple issues with covers that had to be cut again to fit irregular window areas, so I can't say they were perfect, but they were professional and the price was reasonable.

There's a store on 7th Ave and 6th St in Park Slope, Gothic Cabinet Craft, I think. I believe they do radiator covers--they might even do custom work. I haven't bought from them, but I think I saw covers when I was there recently.

Are you talking about the Gothic that was in the same building as Dagastino's? That's gone. They both moved out months ago.

This company appears to make wooden versions to order. They'll be in New York next week making house calls to take measurements on custom builds and offering 25% off some styles.

For what it's worth, kids only touch a hot radiator once. If you want them, go ahead, but like most child-proofing, they really are optional.

I just purchased a custom-made cabinet from Gothic. Very professional, no-nonsense guy. "Measure twice, pay once". Nice simple outfit. Sort of like "The Gap" for wood cabinets. Highly recommended.

We too will soon purchase a radiator cover for our newborn daughter.

I like the radioator cover in the picture to this blog. Where is it from?

yeah - where's this pic from? I've done web searches on all the radiators, and I've only seen this kind with the vents on top from England.

Also interested in the Gothic cabinet rad covers b/c I have 5 month old that will start crawling in the near future. Can you share a little more info -- what size cover did you have made, type of wood and how much did you pay? thanks.

There's a place on west 10th st btw greenwich and 6th ave in greenwich village, don't know the name but they make very nice wooden radiator covers. Manhattan Cabinetry (B'way in the teens or 20s) also makes them but can be pricey. You could look at their floor models for ideas.

Pine Street Metals on Pine st. in Brooklyn. Go to their website and they have a diagram on how to measure for the proper size of your rads. Or call them 718-277-2404. I use them and their very reliable.
