Need Someone To Hang a TV and Do Some Plaster Work

Hi,

I'm trying to findsomeone who can do the following for us:

1. Hang an LCD TV onto a plaster wall. Additionally, we'll want the wall channelled so that the wires are in the wall.

2. Run speaker cable (its flat cable) up a wall and across the ceiling (basically just adhesing the cable to the plaster) and then hiding the wire with plaster.

If anyone knows of someone good for this sort of work, please let me know.

Cheers.
Alan

doing the tv to wall thing is pretty easy. can diy project.

The lag-bolts need to go minimum a couple of inches into wood studs (or a brick wall) if your wall is neither wood studded or brick the wall needs to be retro-fitted.
You can call 347 419 0023 ------ Dan.

That first comment is some pretty crappy advice.

The second comment is correct - if you have metal studded walls, they will not be able to support more than 100# and even that is pushing it.

I'd also recommend ditching the flat cable. If you're going to plaster anyway you might as well get some proper gauge oxygen free cable and channel the ceiling as well to run that. Electric is trickier. It's against code to bury an extension cord in plaster - it's just a bad idea i.e. fire hazard. On top of that it just looks awful. If you email me a photo of the space I can point you in the right direction. ejohnjoyce a t gmail

If the TV is light enough (75 pounds or less -- many sub-50 inch LCDs though not plasmas will be) and you'll be installing it flush against the wall (no articulating arms or anything), it can go into metal studs. Get the biggest toggle bolts they sell and drill into the studs themselves. Use at least two studs, two bolts in each.

You want to tape your wires to the wall and then cover it with plaster? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You can't do that. It's going to crack in one day.

Bklyn Fire Alarm Guy or Dan, do you do this sort of work?

To the comment on wireless, nothing thats really primetime for vid. Really not worth that effort.

As forr the comment on the 'stupidest thing I've ever heard', seriously, did you need to say anything?

Cheers.
