Messy renovation
We've just begun renovating our apt this week and the workers have scratched the lobby door in front of a co-op board member and left the elevator uncleaned at the end of the day. I come home and one of their girlfriend's is in my apt talking on her cell phone. I'm scheduled to make a 2nd payment to the contractor (out of 4) tomorrow - any advice?

Don't pay it until he fixes those things (or rather only pay him half of it and tell him he can get the other half when he fixes it; contractors need to pay their day labor and my guess is that this is a small time contractor who doesn't have extra funds).
Tell him this is your house and he needs to be courtesy to your property and the property of your neighbors or he's going to be fired.

This is why most reputable condo nd co-op management companies require licensed and insured contractors. if yours is not then its between you and the co-op board. But certainly inform the contractor that its his responsibility and see what heppens before making any more payments.
