Master Plumber

My wife and I just bought a 4 story brownstone in Bed Stuy. The house is in great shape, but I need to find a plumber that is skilled with kitchen renovations. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

seek out Master Plvmber on this sight. He did Mr. B's plumbing and seems to be quite competent. And cute to boot! Not sure of his contact info, tho'

I never heard of a plumber specializing in kitchens..typically they specialize in piping and pipes can usually be found in kitchens and baths.

Kitchen and bath plumbing is typically the easiest type of plumbing to do. Your average licensed plumber should be able to handle the job with the skill and competency required.

Great, but this is a large job (a kitchen and several bathrooms), so I am looking for a good recommendation to avoid a negative experience.

Thank you

And apparently too busy to deliver estimates or actually take on any new clients, so good luck with that one!

Gateway does great consultations, but don't think you're ever going to get them back in your house again or find out how much the talk will cost...

*shop around*

Gateway is very reliable, professional and generous with advice on this forum. If they are not too busy, we have called upon them several times and would highly recommend. Good luck!

I have used gateway several times on both my co-op and on the co-op building's plumbings needs. I have never had any problems getting an estimate or an appointment. There is always someone answering the phone. Granted I know when I can wait for something and when it is an emergency. I have used there emergency service a few times too and received prompt return calls and service. They won't be the cheapest, but it will be quality. And as a young woman, I have always felt comfortable being alone with their workers.

huh??

re 2:19

do a google search of elderly people being taken advantage of by "repairmen" or the woman in west chester who was murdered in her house by a workman , etc.

Rare but it happens. Maybe I should have just said, as a women home alone letting strangers into their house.

Thanks everyone. I am having Gateway come the the house this week to give a job estimate. I will post you on the results.

Please let us know exactly how long you wait between visit and estimate. Those of us STILL WAITING can then get extra paranoid.

This is an interesting aspect of MP's marketing choices...

...get lots of business from Brownstoner...

...where everyone can kibbutz.

Takes guts, especially since I am one of the (some? many?) who got no more than an initial consultation out of Gateway. Even after calling back more than once. On what I would consider a substantial job.

I wish I were above this, but I also follow these threads and get just the slightest bit paranoid.

Gateway Review (Original Poster)

Very professional. One of their plumbers came to the house as scheduled (Tuesday, within 3 days of my first phone call) and I received a well written outline of cost estimates.

They are not cheap, but I am going with them because the GC that is handling the project thinks that Gateway can do the job and I believe that you pay for quality.

Will let you all know how it goes.

Jesus, so now both of us who are still waiting for our Gateway estimates can feel thoroughly inadequate. What's wrong with us?! Is there an over-the-counter paranoia medication?

1:53....don't mean to fuel your fire, but they are starting work today. Are you sure something did not get lost in translation when you were initially dealing with them?
